It was the day of the big sand castle building contest in Laguna Beach, California, and the Thompson family came equipped to win. Dad brought the shovels. Mom brought the nourishment. And the kids brought along the cute little red wagon their Aunt and Uncle sent from Blooming Cookies®.
The competition began and the castle began to rise. And rise and rise. The kids made countless trips with the wagon to bring wet-packed sand. Dad sculpted like Michelangelo. Mom added her decorator touch. It was a towering sight to behold, complete with a mote and drawbridge!
It probably would have taken first place, too. Unfortunately, though, the tide got to it well before the judges did. “Next year we're also bringing along a professional excavator,” said Dad.
